"PA German Groundhog Lodges" with William Donner
William Donner is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Kutztown University. For the last ten years, he has been learning about Pennsylvania German history and culture. In this talk he describes the cultural and historical background of Pennsylvania Germans and explains how groundhog lodges play an important part in developing and maintaining ethnic identity. This taping was held at Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center in Pennsburg, a longstanding supporter of the interpretation and preservation of Pennsylvania German culture.
